Lagos, Portugal

Last weekend, most of the girls in my program went to Lagos, Portugal. We were a little upset because the weather could have been a lot better, but we had a lot of fun. We left Friday morning and got back Sunday night. Friday we arrived in Lagos around 1pm and didn't really do much of anything because it was POURING. We sat around and watched tv in our hotel rooms, which were actually really nice. Our hotel rooms were really small apartments, so we were able to make pasta one night for dinner. It was fun to cook, it reminded me of cooking with my friends in my on-campus apartment last semester.

On Saturday, we went on a sailboat cruise in the morning. The weather started to get a lot nicer then, which was really good. Some people went swimming and they took us around the caves and other cool rock formations around the coast. After the boat cruise, it was perfect beach weather so we went to the beach and had a chance to lay out in the sun for a while. After the beach, the weather turned on us again and started to rain a little. We took a 30 minute bus ride to Sagres, Portugal, which was considered to be the "end of the world," to see the sunset. But because of the weather, we unfortunately didn't get a chance to see the sunset. It was still beautiful to see the cliffs, and I can definitely understand why people used to think that Sagres was the end of the world.

On Sunday, we got up early and went to the beach. It was absolutely beautiful on Sunday, which was of course the day that we had to leave. We ate lunch on the beach, relaxed, and had a good time. We left at about 5pm and returned to Sevilla around 9:30pm (Portugal is an hour behind Spain). I really would like to spend more time in Portugal, so if I ever go back to Europe it is definitely on my list!
